Aloha Sis & D,
Sorry We didn't post for a couple of days...too much going on!!!
We did have an exciting encounter Monday night. Can you say 8 inch centipede??? It was by far the UGLIEST thing I have ever seen with a billion legs!!!! It scurried (not sure how to describe that) past my foot in Dorian's room as I was preparing to bid her 'Goodnight'. We both screamed, woke up the rest of the house and when we could not locate it we closed her door and taped the cracks so it couldn't escape! We immediately phoned Mokihana Pest Control at 8:00AM Tuesday morning and they promptly dispatched a cute little guy equipped with a very large pair of stainless salad tongs to search for the offending, ugly beast of a bug and to spray 'bug juice' to kill him when he emerged from his hiding place. We once again taped the door shut (lest he should attempt to escape!!). Several hours later when we returned home from cleaning the vacation rental, I faced the unpleasant task of tearing Dorian's room apart to find the offending creature. Upon opening the door and entering with a BIG broom in hand, I was delighted to find the many legged creature curled up and unmoving! To those of you unfamiliar with Hawaiian centipedes, they are really ugly, big, black awful creatures with a bite that is horribly painful. Folks here equate them to having a rattle snake in your house!
**On a more positive note...we don't have anything venomous here, nor do we have ANY snakes on Kauai!!! I've decided that we should send anything with more than four legs and no fur to a remote island all by themselves!!!!
Hope your chemo treatment is going okay, hopefully tolerable. All of this will be worth being well once it is far behind you. You and D are such an inspiration. I am (have always been) so proud of you both for meeting this thing head on. Your amazing spirit and determination will see you through this.
To everyone who has been posting; THANK YOU!!! Thank you for your love and prayers and positive thoughts.
Gosh, I bet you guys are happy to be going home for a spell! I was so excited to see the update (and the 'special precautions'- a MUST)!! Will you be travelling in the 'Mary Mobile'??? Ahhhhh, your very own bed! There's no place like home! I'm guessing we will see an update on your scheduled arrival...'Bon Voyage'!
You will probably hear from Lee at some point. I know he is anxious to see you both but will wait until you are ready for visitors. He will be back on the mainland April 21. D, give me call and I'll give you his cell # .
I'll try to have a cute kitty or dog story for you next time instead of a scary bug story. Hey Des, could you post some more pics of your dog...PLEASE!!! He's too cute and we are living in the land of felines here!
That's it for now...
All our love to you both
XOXOXO
