Avocado's

Good Friday Morning!

 

   Meijer has a sale on avocado's, so of course I stocked up on them!  I always think of the many times Mary, Gloria, Christine and Jim and I have been in the kitchen cutting up fresh veggies and cheese...  Heating tortillas and mashing beans....  I think the reason I feel so at home with it is because it is just like my family.  Heck, you guys are family!  I was raised in a family who has a passion for food too!  It is so much more than just a meal.  It is a time to share our hearts and the warmth of a meal among loved ones.

 

   While I was preparing the avocados this morning, I wanted to share something:  Mary:  Remember the vacuum sealer I told you about?  Jim and I use ours all the time.  You would be amazed how long an avocado will last!  I usually buy about 6 or 8 of them.  Not too ripe!  Then I half them, pop out the seed and peel them.  Then I cut each half once again in half, so they are quartered.  I pop these quarters, two or four, into the vacuum bags, seal them up and store them in the fridge.  It is AMAZING how long they last!  They seem to stop getting ripe!  And I love that when I want one, all I do is cut the bag open!  Yummy!  You can store them in halves, or chopped for use in guacamole later on...  And the great thing is that when you are ready to eat them, you've already gotten the messy work done!  I think this is my favorite use for the vacuum sealer!

 

    Well...  When do you think you will be coming home Mare & D?  Hey D!  Jim and I put a $500 deposit on a new Saturn Sky yesterday!  Whoohoo!  I test drove one....  Yikes!  I loved it!  I haven't decided for sure if I want a manual or auto transmission.  I don't understand why people like manual......  I test drove a yellow one, but we decided on a Chili Pepper Red with red and black leather interior.  Fun!  I was afraid I would need a girdle to get into it, but I was fine!  What a relief....  When the Miata came out, I loved it and went to test drive one.  I felt like there should have been circus music playing when I got into it!  My head was COMPLETELY higher than the windshield!  DUMB!
