Make Mary better

Thursday, March 09, 2006

Hi Sis,

SOOO glad to hear from you!!!! I am so happy to hear that all is going along well. I'm REALLY happy to hear that you are tolerating the chemo treatments. I am a firm believer that uniting traditional and alternative treatments is the only way to effectively practice medicine. So good that it is becoming more widely accepted.

Sounds like your days are pretty well planned! Funny how doctors can do that, and that you actually look forward to them coming! I guess it's a need to have information and the control that having that information brings. I always looked forward to seeing the doctors when Lee was hospitalized because it usually brought more knowledge to the situation than you had before. It always feels better to have an understanding of things unfamiliar to us.

Any idea when they will allow you to go home? I cannot imagine how homesick you & D must be for your own sweet, cozy house! How is my favorite brother doing?? I actually miss reading his version of e-mail/ blogs...it's always so....entertaining! ( I love you D!!)

As for us...Dorian is finally on the mend! We go to the clinic each morning for packing changes (so they can closely monitor the wound) and then Lee does the one at night. The doctor yesterday told us it looks like it is finally beginning to heal "aggressively". Yay!!! After six weeks!! We met with her teachers and her principal today and everyone is so committed to getting her caught up on everything she has missed (the WHOLE third quarter!!! YIKES!!). We are so relieved that she won't be an 11th grader again next year!!!

It has been unseasonably rainy here the last three weeks. We actually had a flood when Dorian was in the hospital. Over 20 inches of rain in 24 hours!! It was really weird, I was watching it on the news in her hospital room. Places I am very familiar with that I didn't even recognize on TV!! CRAZY! We had a BEAUTIFUL day Tuesday, gorgeous! Super-bright sunshine ALL day long, big beyootiful huge super-white clouds, unbelievably blue, blue skies and the waterfalls are just amazing as a result of all the rainfall.

Now that our D is on the mend, hopefully I can find some fun pics to send to you. Dorian will have to help me since I am 'technologically challenged' when it comes to this type of thing!!! I'll see what I can do!

Sorry this is so long. maybe you can read a paragraph a day or something!!!!:-)
We miss you guys so much. You continue to be in our prayers. All our love to you both. XOXO

Howdy Aunt Mare
good to hear you are working through your treatment. Rest so your body can heal.
The sky was bleary today. It is nice to hear about your friends Scott and Jim. Boston is a great place. I love living in LA it is BEAUTIFUL everyday even when the sky is bleary cause you can always wear flip flops. And the lifestyle is really mellow and healthy. I like getting fresh fruits and vegetables year round EVERYTHING! and the cool taco trucks -it is an ice cream truck with mexican food-And there are the guys that pushshopping carts with the big stockpots full of hot ears of corn- When you get one -they pull out this big fat ear and put it on a skewer and smother it in, are you ready?
1-first they smear on mayonaise
2-then they shake on grated mexican cheese
3-then they squeeze on parkay of that squeezy butter
4-shake on chili power-
5-somethimes they roll in cilantro
6-then you can squeeze lemon or lime juice (whichever fruit the guy has)
all for 1Dollar (it sounds pretty gross but tastes OOH SOO NICE!)
Oh well here is the building I live in ( I bought my condo in 1999 ALL BY MYSELF!)
love ya des

update from mary

Hello Everyone

This is the 5th time I have started to write but i get worn out and don't get them sent out.
As you all know, we are ahead on the progress of my treatment. Even though progress is good, I am still very ill between the pnemonia, Chemo, IV's, blood work, and all the other test. It keeps my day busy plus I have several different Doctors in and out of here all day long, morning to night. As you know, I have been on heavy pain pills for a long time which became a problem for me. I spent the last 5 days detoxing from the morephine which was pretty bad. Thanks to God and Dennis by my side, I got through it and now I am being treated with all natural pain relief. I have my senses back and I am feeling much better. I still have fluid in my legs which they are treating aggressively. My legs are finally starting to lose some of the fluid which feels much better. They keep checking for blood clots and I am clear from that. So, over all things are good. I had my third Chemo treatment on tuesday. Everything has gone well. I seem to be tolerating the Chemo without any problems.
TO ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
I miss you all terribly. I miss not hearing your voices and seeing your faces. I know I well be home soon and we will all be together again. I am sorry about holding up everything on Mom's house. I know everyone wants that to be done and over with. i thank you for all your prayers and everything you have done for Dennis & I.

God Bless you all
Mary

Hi Mary and Dennis!

Well, we have been reading posts, but both Jim and I have been so busy the past week, we really have had much to contribute except that we love you guys!

I have been working with our Patent attorney, our manufacturing company and also getting ready for a trip to Palm Springs, Chicago and Dallas.  Very exciting part of our product launch.  Our international patent is taking affect within the next week, and our first ten devices will be in a test market about a week from now.

For those who don't know what I am talking about, my mother invented a health-care device and secured the patent internationally.  We formed an LLC, which has the license for the patent.  Our device is an aid that makes it possible for one health-care worker to reposition a patient in their bed.  Patients who are confined to bed, like MS and quad patients, will slide down in their bed several times a day.  Without our device, nurses have to get another nurse to help them move the patient back up.  The problem is so bad, the number one back injury to health-care workers is caused by repositioning patients.  You can see our site at www.relayu.com if you are curious.

Mare and D:  If possible, I will try to meet up with you in Philly one of these times.  Don't worry, I won't get in the way.  I just wonder if it might get lonely, and maybe I could remind you how special and loved you guys are.

Desire:  I've heard your name for years....  I can't believe I've never met you!  Mare, D, Jim and I have had so many fun times together.  Mare has told us from time to time about what you were up to.  Didn't you live in Boston at one point?  I have family in Boston.  Cool place, but a NIGHTMARE to drive in!

Mare and D:  Make sure you let Jim and I know when we can come to Toledo to give you a hug.  I don't care if we only stay 30 minutes, we will be there.

    Our hearts are with you,

Scott and Jim

Hi Aunt Mare from Des

It was nice to tell you I love you today.
It is so sunny and blue skies Los Angeles. I knew you would love this day.
I wish the ocean was warm but it is too cold for my Caribbean spoiled butt to jump into.
I ate ice cream for dinner it was fun.
I have 1 huge orange on my orange tree on my balcony. I have 1 Blood Orange and 1 Navel Orange tree and the Navel Orange has 1 orange-it is the size of my head.
I had 19 blood oranges they were small like baseballs - they were like eating a sweet and sour sucker-the red was dripping bloody red and sweet and the orange part was really tart.
I was supposed to wait a little longer till they were more red but I could not resist them any longer. I also have 9 baby lemon trees that I grew from seed and they are only about a foot tall. I brought them in because it was chilly and I am giving them lots of love so I can get big juicy lemons, and I turned around and there were only 8 lemon trees. John Paul had pulled the biggest one out of the pot and was chewing on the leaves YIKES!! Oh well I put it back into the pot and out of reach so we are still at 9 lemon trees. I just planted some more seeds so hopefully we can grow more.
I had a lot of heirloom tomatoes but everytime the tomatoes get ready to pick John sneaks out and eats them off the vine. I was gonna give some tomatoes to the plumber and I picked a tomato(a black crimsom) and half of it was eaten. John had eaten half the tomato while it was still on the vine- I think he must be a vegetarian!
Business has been busy and I have been working like a mad dog selling travel.
I cannot wait for you to get better soon I am going to Alaska in June-get stronge so you can come!!
It is a very beautiful and overwhelming place-
well here is John Paul aka Tomato thief!
