Mahalo for the update!!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did I mention.....YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????
Mahalo Christine for the update! Glad to hear that Mare still has her spark!!! (I'm with you Sis!!!)
Keep up the good work! Guess this must be a 'healing' period for you and Dorian both. We have been struggling for three months to close this wound. We are now using a platelet-derived human growth factor inside the 'tunnel' that won't close. In less than 72 hours we have seen very significant improvement in the size of the wound!! Wooohooo for both of you girls!!!
You are always in our thoughts. We love you both!

Update from Christine

Hello to All,

It is about 5:00 on Saturday and Mary is sitting up in bed watching the Derby Activity. Derby Wedding Anniversary Day. We all remember the party 8 years ago. I think a few of us may still remember the hangovers too!

Mary had a second dose of chemo yesterday and today is alert, pain-free and hungry! I saw a little of the my Old Auntie M yesterday. She wanted some ice, so I asked the nurse if she could have some. Well, the nurse said she couldn't yet, all she could have were some of those little pink sponges on a stick soaked in water. So when I went back to tell her, she mouthed the words "bull shit". Oh well, I still didn't give her the ice, but we soaked the sponges in raspberry flavored water.

I am getting better at lip reading, but sometimes it is hard for me and very frustrating for her. After it took me a while to figure out a word she was saying, she binked me on the head when I finally got it!

Mom and D are with her now and I just came upstairs to post a quick note to you all. I will read all the recent posts to her, since D doesn't have the computer down in the ICU.

She knows she's in everyone's thoughts and prayers. I gave her hugs, kisses, and messages from all of those who asked me to.

Keep up the prayers and postive thoughts,

Love to All,

Christine

You are always on our mind.....

Hello all,

Just taking a break from a little yard work this morning.  Perfect morning here in Kalamazoo.  Everything is coming to life so quickly it is almost electric.  Planted some Salvia near our pump house.  Salvia reminds us of Mexico, so I always like to have a few in the yard.  Our hastas and mints are practically growing as I watch!  Amazing.  And in case you all don't know, this is tulip country.  The tulips are absolutely gorgeous this year!  Perfect spring for them!   We have some deep purple tulips that have a jagged edge that almost looks ruffled...  Very pretty.  The lilacs and apple blossoms are popping out and I can smell them through the open windows.  I remember living in Corpus Christi...  Always too hot or too something to open the windows....  I hate that!

Derby day.  I am not a big derby fan.  In fact, I never even paid attention till D and Mare got married.  But now I watch it every year and think of our dear friends.  This year we will be even more emotionally tied to the event.

  Our best wishes and thoughts,

Scott & Jim
